 A 5-megawatt solar photovoltaic power plant that generates electricity for 20 years can save the Philippines around 550,000 barrels of oil or 300,000 metric tons of coal. In terms of emissions, this can save the atmosphere from 186,000 tons of carbon dioxide; 1,269,000 tons of sulfur oxides; and 1,163,000 tons of nitrogen oxide.
